Planned Developments

As books go out of print, their rights revert to the author, who is then free to sell them at whatever rate he sees fit. I intend to sell my backlist at $3 per title. The scheme will work like this - you will be able to download free the first part of any novel (ten or so chapters) in a format you can read on your browser; then, if you like it sufficiently, you'll be able to download the whole book in .pdf (Adobe Acrobat), .lit (Microsoft Reader), and open-e-book format for a payment of $3.
I am now preparing all my rights-reverted texts in those formats - MM

What can you do with it then?

Meanwhile, most of these 30 titles are available second-hand, in both paper- and hardcover editions, at prices between $5 and $25. Go to www.bookfinder.com , and put the name malcolm macdonald in the author window, leave the title window blank, and click BEGIN SEARCH. You'll see that most booksellers have cross-linked the pen-names Malcolm Ross and M.R. O'Donnell to Malcolm Macdonald, so all titles show up

Bookfinder.com is a “meta” search engine – that is, it searches 21 other book-search sites and combines all the results in one page, so it is like using 21 other booksearch engines simultaneously. For that reason it is a little slower than a standard search engine but much more comprehensive.

If you want a quicker, less exhaustive search, there's usually a good selection at:
